1. Understanding Our Cancellation Tiers

AllSail uses a three-tier cancellation system designed to balance flexibility for guests with reliability for boat owners. Each boat listing displays its applicable cancellation tier, which is determined by the rental duration type.

The cancellation tier for your booking is confirmed during checkout and shown on your booking confirmation. All refund amounts referenced below apply to the rental price only, excluding the AllSail service fee, unless otherwise stated.

2. Flexible Cancellation Policy

The Flexible tier is the default policy for hourly rentals and offers the most accommodating cancellation terms:

  • More than 48 hours before check-in: 100% refund of rental price, excluding AllSail service fee.
  • 24 to 48 hours before check-in: 50% refund of rental price, excluding AllSail service fee.
  • Less than 24 hours before check-in: No refund.

This tier is designed for short-duration experiences where plans may change on short notice.

3. Moderate Cancellation Policy

The Moderate tier is the default policy for daily rentals and provides a balanced approach to cancellations:

  • More than 14 days before check-in: 100% refund of rental price, excluding AllSail service fee.
  • 7 to 14 days before check-in: 50% refund of rental price, excluding AllSail service fee.
  • Less than 7 days before check-in: No refund.

This tier gives boat owners adequate time to find replacement bookings while providing guests with reasonable flexibility.

4. Strict Cancellation Policy

The Strict tier is the default policy for weekly charters and reflects the higher commitment involved in longer rentals:

  • More than 30 days before check-in: 100% refund of rental price, excluding AllSail service fee.
  • 14 to 30 days before check-in: 50% refund of rental price, excluding AllSail service fee.
  • Less than 14 days before check-in: No refund.

Weekly charters require significant preparation by the boat owner, including provisioning, crew scheduling, and berth arrangements. The extended cancellation window accounts for these commitments.

5. Service Fee

The AllSail service fee is non-refundable in all standard cancellation scenarios. This fee covers the cost of operating the platform, including secure payment processing, customer support, and booking management.

The only exceptions where the service fee is refunded are:

  • Owner-initiated cancellations (see Section 7).
  • Force majeure events (see Section 8).

6. 24-Hour Grace Period

Guests may cancel free of charge within 24 hours of booking confirmation, provided the check-in date is more than 7 days away. This grace period applies regardless of the cancellation tier and includes a full refund of both the rental price and the AllSail service fee.

If the check-in date is 7 days or fewer away at the time of booking, the standard cancellation tier applies immediately and the 24-hour grace period does not apply.

7. Owner Cancellation

If a boat owner cancels a confirmed booking, the following applies:

  • The guest receives a 100% refund of the total amount paid, including the AllSail service fee.
  • The owner is charged a cancellation penalty equal to 20% of the booking rental price.
  • Repeated owner-initiated cancellations may result in reduced listing visibility or listing suspension.

AllSail takes owner cancellations seriously, as they disrupt guest travel plans and undermine platform trust. Owners experiencing circumstances that prevent them from honoring a booking should contact AllSail support immediately.

8. Force Majeure

In the event of extraordinary circumstances beyond the control of either party, guests are eligible for a full refund including the AllSail service fee. Qualifying force majeure events include:

  • Government-declared weather emergencies or official maritime warnings affecting the departure area.
  • Named or numbered storms within 150 miles (240 km) of the point of departure.
  • Natural disasters (earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis) rendering the charter area inaccessible.
  • Government-imposed travel restrictions, port closures, or mandatory evacuation orders.

AllSail reviews force majeure claims on a case-by-case basis. Guests may be required to provide supporting documentation such as official weather advisories, government notices, or news reports.
